Aspen Real Estate by Keith Hartigan

Aspen CO Real Estate

Aspen CO real estate is impressive by all counts.  Aspen has had outstanding real estate values since its founding during the Colorado silver boom and the earth below and around the town continues to be its most valuable asset.  Ninety five percent of Aspen is undeveloped and forever protected from development as open space.  Although some of the land constitutes the world-class alpine ski mountains that comprise the ski resort we know today, the foresight and continued restraint Aspen has displayed in NOT over-developing its most prized asset has, over time, pushed Aspen to be the most expensive zip code in the country, and a prized destination for visitors and homebuyers from around the globe.

Aspen is literally at the end of the road and at the end of the roaring fork river valley.  To arrive Aspen is by choice and never en route elsewhere.  Far from the I70 corridor through the state of Colorado,  to arrive in Aspen, whether by car or plane, is a special feeling.  To have the good fortune to live here or purchase a vacation home here is another sort of arriving altogether.

Aspen real estate sales occur year year-round, just as the inspired events take place here throughout the seasons.

In addition to the fantastic Rocky Mountain location, Aspen beckons as a cultural mecca with global minds descending  for Ideasfest(http://www.aifestival.org/) where the tiny town of Aspen becomes the cultural capital of the world for a week each year.

The engulfing aspen groves of the area are what lend Aspen its name, but the idyllic setting has much more to offer inside it’s natural sanctuary.  To own a home in the West End neighborhood means walking steps to the Aspen institute (http://www.aspeninstitute.org/).  To look down across from your red mountain estate at the gondola in the winter, or in summer, ride your bike to listen to some of the best composers and musicians in the world (http://www.aspenmusicfestival.com)is what makes aspen real estate so valuable.

Absent of unchecked development, any high-rises, or residential sprawl, the real estate options in and around Aspen neighborhoods are a delight to discover.  Ranch properties with acreage, river frontage and sprawling land are a classic western choice for those seeking privacy.  Red Mountain, the East and West End neighborhoods boast gorgeous residences for the most discriminating of buyers.  Aspen’s core bustles with both condominium and single family homes in a priceless location walking distance to everything in this small town with a  big reputation.

Aspen homes, as an investment, year after year have proven to be as solid as the Rocky Mountain bedrock beneath them (with perhaps some silver and gold buried in there).
